Extraterrestrial technologies are assimilating mankind disguised as appealing electronic devices. Attaching themselves to our ears, our eyes, our appendages and our minds the invaders take quick control over all our routines and activities. Tasks that were at one time autonomous become dependent on these strange electronic parasites. First they took over our media, replacing the old billboard ideologies with there own. Then they spread from person to person in an evolutionary epidemic unlike any seen before. The most terrifying aspect of the invasion however was not the hideous plastic bodily mutations or the flickering square light projections on the citizens face but the fact that we welcomed it, embraced it, paid for it and did all the necessary surgery to implement the aliens our selves. The beast in the shadows merely presented the possibility and mankind took the rest into it's own hands.

All of this happened while I was meditating under the tree making drawings as a street performer., many things around me changed. Some of the transformations were gradual while others occurred very swiftly. It was one of the most obvious and horrifying metropolitan metamorphosis happened literally over night. This new alien technology simply swept through the streets uncontested, literally redesigning the cities thought patterns under the guise of convenience. Suddenly everyone had to have one and these sleek looking little creatures became a symbol of status without any reproach or concern. People just got excited and started plugging these extra terrestrials into there ears never once considering that there might be repercussions. No one even noticed that the aliens were to controlling information, that they were censoring a world of ideas in favour of their own copyrighted sounds…

At the time I was making this comic book artwork there was a real change in the city as new hand held devices were becoming very popular. There were advertisements everywhere and this first wave of new electronic devices were all white which made them extremely obvious. It was a very strange experience for me because I was sitting in the same spot day in and day out working as a busker for years and I had never seen anything like this happen before. Sure some fashions would pop up and disappear or a new song might get played to death, even a particular auto mobile would come in and out of style from time time but the advent of the mp3 & iphone was ridiculous. Almost like a science fiction movie these things popped up everywhere and didn't discriminate like fashion or trends. Not to say everything the event is necessarily as disastrous as the events in the comic but it was truly an unnerving experience.
