TERRIFYING TALES OF TRANSFORMATION...

Free Online Comics! Short Scary stories of metaphysics, metamorphosis and mutilations. Each of these tales involves some strange transformation of the human body whether it be real, imagined, terrifying or downright silly.  For example “GETTING READY!” is  about self perception, arrogance, fashion and mutation. Excited to get dressed up our unnamed superstar fixes his hair, polishes his expensive shoes, dresses in designer cloths and prepares for an evening out. As he finishes up he checks himself out in the mirror and appears to be more than happy with what he sees. One can only imagine his internal dialogue along the lines of “Lookin' Good” or “ You the man!”. Despite all this from our vantage, beyond the forth wall, things look a little bit different. The characters face has melted into some strange organic atrocity. Was it always that way or did he forget to remove those little chemical bags from the new clothes causing this hideous outbreak? Regardless of the answer it seems obvious that no matter how much money or time he spends on his outward appearance, nothing will change who he really is. How about you?

Many of these creepy picture were originally drawn as a 3 foot x 8 foot pen and ink mural during my residency at the Drake Hotel Toronto. For a week the hotel gave me free reign over an empty storefront  to use as a studio/gallery. I covered the whole place with paper and proceeded to make life-sized comics all over the space. The topics general revolved around various cycles of life depicting all sorts of weird metamorphoses. The other stories involved people turning into cell phones, being trapped inside a bottle of alcohol and physically disappearing into anonymity. This particular strip kind of freaked me out so I decided to redraw it at comic book size and again as a short animation.
