ALBUM ART! Gate fold covers from Jay Spectre (Top) and Lucas Fowles . Lucas wanted to see a twisted business man enveloped by wires attacking a female fairy and a guitar.

HEY APATHY! MUSIC ARTWORK As an obsessive music lover and amateur player I always get excited to do drawings to support musical creations. I've made a lot of black and white art for independent and professional albums from various genre's including jazz, classical, techno, industrial and pop. I am not concerned about the genre as long as the music is positive well made and the artists are passionate about what they are playing. I have done promotional drawings for CD and record covers, online releases, independent brands labels and gig posters and apparel.
The artwork shown on the left column of this page includes CD covers for a couple of infamous Toronto house & techno Dee-jays. Both of these artists gave me photographs of themselves and asked to be turned into comic book styled characters according to specific individual requests.

The first one I made was for a live release of DJ Jelo. Jelo ask me do draw a cartoon version of himself with his hands symbiotically melded to the turntables. This album included a front and back image of the DJ taking the concept one step further by morphing the character with the CD as well.

The second set I made was for local legend Kenny Glascow's release entitled taste for the low life. This time Kenny wanted a more serious caricaturization for the front cover and we did a surreal exploding head for the interior and promotional images. Kenny's album was released by the Number 19 record label who I have also done a number of mini graphics for  to promote their online singles (below).

PROMOTION COVER, PULL-OUT, DISC DESIGN & GIG POSTER

For this awesome CD cover I collaborated with the band and their own designer to come up with one of the most elaborate packages I worked on to date. For this design the band asked me to draw a character with thoughts about the city pouring out of his head.

Thetitle of the album was “Too Little Too Much” so I played with the idea of daily possessions and routines blasting out of of the characters head while he tries too escape. The title  is also spelled out amidst all the objects.

Overall I did two sequences of the objects escaping, one close up and another of the character running as well as a detailed portrait of the face. The band added the colors and worked on the design using my illustrations for the both in exterior and interior gatefold CD album art, a pull out poster with a large image on one side and the lyrics with smaller images on the other, on the CD itself and for gig posters. All in all a really exciting project and the kind of art that makes CD's worth while in a world of downloadable info@!
