ALWAYS ON HER MIND!
STREET ART COMICS! Day in and out, the workload piles simultaneous with achievement the dept. The meeting is at six and there are six electronically charged devices in her hand, and she can’t stop thinking about how many messages she mist during those six minutes of interface distortion, meanwhile she is late for the train…From inside her mind, monstrously technological tentacles initiate a surreal metamorphosis, raising her thoughts and eyes from her body, attached only by the wire umbilicals. In a stress-less instance the ordeal ends and the woman’s head begins a descent. Unfortunately attempts to reverse the transformation tend to be futile. 2 x 6 foot Ink on paper, Performance drawings, Canadian Art 2005
ARTIST'S STATEMENTS
The TRANSFORMATION scrolls were a major part of my public interventions during my second season on the streets. The drawings were made with brushes and a little bit of bamboo detailing, in under 15 minutes. This series allowed me to complete numerous vignettes in a time frame suitable for audiences. In my experience viewers general attend an intriguing public performance for five to ten minutes (which is actually about 9.5 minutes longer than the average viewing of a gallery artwork). Therefore it was important to develop certain painting techniques appropriate for the intended conversation. The transformation scrolls were my first performance drawings to deliver a sequential anecdote, and consequentially my first live artworks to attract extensive crowds.
