Mike and a Monstrosity at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition 2002

CREEPY CARTOON EXHIBITIONS

COMPLETE EXHIBITION HISTORY HERE

These HEY APATHY! artworks were first exhibited at the AWOL space in June 2002. This group presentation took place in a large warehouse gallery and allowed me to show one of the 15 foot ink stained mural paintings (shown above). Unfortunately this early exhibit was one of the most discouraging of all my attempts as I sold only one small painting and heard whispers about my sanity from the audience and other artists alike.

A few months later I showed the drawings again at Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition 2002. I had made about 100 of these creepy ink stained creature immediately following the first exhibition (HEY APATHY and the APOCALYPSE)which I had piled in a large tub at the T.O.A.E.. Fortunately for me this presentation was a roaring success sending many of my strange creature off to new homes The outdoor festival is an amazing venue in which thousands of people from all over the world flock together in the name of art. I particularly enjoy the show because of the enormous attendance of children and young people. However these burnt muppet monstrosities were popular with the young and old alike.

It wasn't until two years after I made these primal expressions that I was able to exhibit them in an actual art gallery. Luckily the XPACE gallery gave me free-rein over there gigantic Kensington Market Space in the Spring of 2004. I was able to hang the collection complete with 200 ink scribbles, three 6 x 4 foot paintings, and two 10 x 15 foot murals, all presented on custom painted black gallery walls.
