HEY APATHY! BOOK ONE

AMIDST ALL THE CHAOS...
The HEY APATHY! Alternative Comics series is a cross genre anthology of interconnected surreal parables from the
City of Gears!
The tales involve mythological metaphors of monstrous mechanizations and the subsequent retaliation of unusual people. Each story is told from my perspective as I witnessed, or possibly induced, these amazing urban occurrences while working a full time professional
street artist
.Throughout the first twelve issue story arc I’ll introduce the denizens and architectural embodiments, technological atrocities, sociology shifts, diabolical villains, anti-heroic protagonists and ultimately the history of this prophetic metropolis. The tale weaves in and out of what one may mistakenly define as reality and share both my tangible and immeasurable experiences as a public performer.
HEY APATHY! BOOK ONE introduces the metropolis as an ominous gear endlessly propelled by a sea of strange citizens. Although infinite in number, and most certainly human, the crowds are falling victim to a highly advanced
technological epidemic
. Electronic tentacles are weaving in and out the peoples minds abruptly manipulating all aspects of day to day life. As the tendrils perpetually assimilate ideologies, large Robot Billboard Sentinels begin to police the streets and the outstanding actions of any lone individual become increasingly obvious and reprehensible. Enter the hero, one Studabaker Hawk, as he defies the mechanization and rises above the hordes to take flight against the commercialized computerizations.
I transcribed the first narrative based on my spontaneous street painting documentations from the summer of 2005. A new weird technology had just been unleashed on the streets of the Gear and strange events of proportionally anthropological interest began altering life the metropolis. I saw wires seeping out of the sides of peoples faces, small video screens protruding from appendages and seething technological tendrils sifting through the hectic crowds. Many people were losing their heads and the billboards flickered brighter than ever I‘d known. It was amidst all of this chaos, while observing the acculturation first hand, that I penned the events recorded in HEY APATHY! Book One.
